Police invite political parties for talks on election violence and Akwatia by-election

The Ghana Police Service has invited political parties to a high-level meeting to deliberate on election-related violence and preparations for the upcoming parliamentary by-election in the Akwatia Constituency.

In a letter signed by the Commissioner of Police and Director-General of Administration, Dr David Agyemang Adjem, the Police stated that the meeting will be held at the 5th Floor Conference Room of the Police Headquarters on Tuesday, 19th August 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

According to the letter, the session will serve as a platform to discuss both security and operational arrangements for the polls, as well as the preparedness of the Electoral Commission (EC).

“The meeting will discuss the modalities for the by-election as well as the Electoral Commission’s preparedness and their roadmap for the parliamentary by-election,” the letter read.

The Police Administration expressed confidence in the cooperation of political stakeholders, urging them to attend the engagement.

The Electoral Commission, mandated to conduct the by-election, was also copied in the correspondence.
