Happening in your environment’ hosted by Kojo Marfo, Hon. Nsenkyire observed that water ways were purposely created by God for mankind’s benefit and doubted the credibility of the churches who are supposed to understand the concept rather go beyond their religious understanding to buy lands and build churches to disturb the flow free water during rainy seasons.

He mentioned areas like Daaban, Buokrom, Sawaaba among other flood-prone areas in Kumasi where many churches and individuals have destroyed the water bodies through putting up buildings in those area which serves as the sources of drinking water for many residents in Kumasi. He attributed the unlawful acts to some sub-metro engineers and chiefs who through their selfishness use fraudulent means to sell water log areas to such churches who never see anything wrong with their actions that create credibility problems in the society.

Hon. Nsenkyire expressed regrets that though such environmental pollutants of  water bodies are very much aware that their actions are illegal, when their houses and properties are washed away by heavy rainfall they turned to fall on the government for assistance. On this note, he said his outfit, Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly and Regional Co-ordinating Council have put measures in place and that an intensive demolition exercise would soon take off to get rid of all buildings that are cited at flood-prone areas in Kumasi.
