Ghana will mark the National Youth Day on Friday, November 1.

The day is set aside by the Africa Union Commission to promote an increased awareness and recognition of young Africans as critical agents of positive change.

Here in Ghana, the National Youth Authority(NYA), the government agency mandated to regulate and coordinate Youth Development activities, is marking the celebration with series of activities on the theme ‘Ghana Beyond Aid; The Youth Factor’ stemming from the vision of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

At a press briefing in Accra on Wednesday, a deputy Chief Executive Officer at the NYA, Akosua Manu, said government was committed to the facilitation of youth development in the country through various activities and programs.

She said the Authority had already embarked on series of activities to mark the Youth Week Celebration ahead of the November 1 Youth Parliament in Accra.

They include a special prayer and donation session, national and regional ‘Youth Stay Healthy’ walk and community service as well as a public lecture.

She appealed to various youth groups to join in the celebrations and also charged them to cooperate with government in enhancing the development and empowerment of the Ghanaian youth.
