The Integrated Social Development Centre (ISODEC), in collaboration with the Shai–Osudoku District Assembly in the Greater Accra Region, is set to plant a total of 650 economic tree seedlings to commemorate 65 years of the Ford Foundation’s presence in West Africa.
The event, scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, will be held under the theme: “From Nation Building to Social Justice.”
The commemoration will bring together government officials, traditional and opinion leaders, school children, representatives from the Forestry Commission, the media, and other relevant stakeholders.
Speaking to the media ahead of the event, Mr. Bernard Anaba, Head of Policy and Programmes at ISODEC, stated that the tree-planting activity will symbolize the Ford Foundation’s enduring commitment to natural resource management, environmental sustainability, climate justice, and its deep connection to social justice.
He noted that trees play a vital role in mitigating climate change and building resilience, while also improving air quality, providing shade, supporting biodiversity, and empowering communities.
The Ford Foundation is an independent organization working to address inequality and build a future grounded in justice.
