Ramadan forum for Imams held at Nsawam

The Office of the Chief Imam of the Nsawam – Adoagyiri  Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region, in collaboration with graduates of  Azhar University,  on Saturday, April 10, 2021, held a day’s convening for over forty  Imams within the Municipality.

 The Forum, held on the theme. ‘Dedicate Your Energy in Seeking Allah’s Trust,’ was meant to empower participants to properly disseminate the virtues of Ramadan to their followers. It was also purposed to highlight the aspirations of the office of the Municipal Chief Imam and how it intends to work jointly with other Imams within the enclave to make the office successful in producing the desired results for the benefit of the Muslim community.

It was explained that the Office would be rolled out as a Non- Governmental Organization (NGO) where financial assistance would be sought from donors to support the education of the destitute within the Muslim communities.

In his address, the Chief Imam of the Nsawam Adoagyiri- Municipality, Sheikh Mohammed wahib Seeba Adam was grateful to Allah for making the Maiden forum a success.

He also expressed gratitude to the participants for putting aside their busy schedules to honour the invitation in their numbers.

While calling on all Muslim clerics in the Municipality to come together as a unit for the good of Islam, he emphasized the need for a harmonious relationship amongst Muslims and non- Muslims in the holy month of Ramadan.

The Chief Imam used the occasion to announce that his office plans to establish a Council of Municipal Imams which would serve as a mutual platform for deliberations on common issues.  

Taking Participants through the Topic, ‘Ramadan and its Virtues’ Sheikh Abdul Rahman Khalid Larry explained that Ramadan is the month of renewal, investment in good deeds and a month that   presents Muslims the opportunity to dust themselves down, refuel and move on with new energy to do the work of the almighty Allah.

According to him, Ramadan teaches Muslims to practice self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, and empathy for those who are less fortunate, hence, encouraging actions of generosity.

Topics such as; the relationship between Imam and the congregation, the duties and the importance of an Imam in a society; Method of Preparing Khutbah (Friday Sermon) among other important themes were discussed.

 The Forum was competently chaired by Superintendent Mohammed Muktar Adam, Imam of the Nsawam Medium Prison and financially supported by Alhaji Mohammed Alfa, a Philanthropist and an advisor to the Offices of the Municipal Chief Imam. Mr Mahama ‘Consultant’ was also mentioned as co-sponsor.

Other dignitaries present at the event included  Imam Alhaji Abdul Rahman Sulaiman,  sheikh Suallah Abdullah Abubakar (Al-misree) Sheikh Osman Musah, Abdul Muhaimin Yakub, Issah Musah, Abdul Rashid Issah among other important personalities.
