The Reverend Father Peter Kabutey, the Assistant Parish Priest of the Saint Charles Lwanga Catholic Church, Abeka, has urged the citizenry to condemn the wrongs in society without fear of threats or reactions from influential people.
He said people were afraid to speak the truth and condemn the ills in society, especially when it concerned influential people, as they thought their lives could be in danger.
“I challenge the citizenry, especially young people, to stand up for the truth and for the right thing to be done in this country,” Rev. Fr. Kabutey said during a mass celebration at the Church at the weekend.

He said Christians should be bold to criticise thier own, including the prophets, adding that a “prophet is not the one who always prophesies that someone would die but preaches the love of God.”
“If we run after prophesies and miracles, they will all end but true love will always last forever.”
Rev. Fr. Kabutey used the occasion to advice couples to respect each other, stressing that men should respect their wives and not lord over them as they are the heads of the family.
“I heard some men envy their wives when the women are going higher academically. This is very wrong because gone were the days when the duties of women were in the kitchen,” he noted.
“Don’t reduce people to nothing because you have money or power, and remember that love does not boast or rejoice over evil.”
