 Forestry Commission procures equipment to bolster operations

The Executive Director of the Forestry Commission, Mr john Allotey, has handed over equipment worth Millions of  Ghana Cedis to the Forest Services Department and Wildlife Division of the Commission to enhance their operations.

The equipment, which were procured with funds from the Ghana Shea Landscape Restoration Project(GSLRP). included, 42 motorcycles,22 tricycles, and 3,200 watering cans.

Presenting the items at a  short but lively ceremony in Accra last Friday, Mr  Allotey stated that the equipment would be distributed in five regions, including North East, Upper East, Northern, Savannah, and Upper West.

.Mr Allotey indicated that while the tricycles would assist in carting seedlings to sites, the motorbikes would be used for monitoring.

While commending the United Nations Development Fund, Ministry of Finance, and Global Shea Alliance for their enormous support, he thanked the chiefs in the Savannah zones for supporting the project.

He called  on the beneficiary divisions to use the equipment for its intended purposes to expand its lifespan

Receiving the equipment, the Executive Director of the Wildlife Division of the  Forestry Commission, Dr Joseph Boakye thanked the  Chief Executive and indicated that the equipment would help his outfit discharge their duties effectively. He assured that the equipment would be put to good use.
