Avoid deliberate mischief – Hamid tells media

The Minister for Zongo and inner city development, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid has appealed to the media to avoid deliberate mischief and sensationalism.

According to the minister, deliberate mischief and sensationalism do not only distort message but also erode confidence in the media circle and undermine Ghana’s democratic dispensation.

The Zongo minister was speaking at the Press Launch of the to-be-held Zongo For Peace And Development Conference Wednesday, 2 January 2019.

Initiated by the immediate past Zongo minister, Boniface Abubakar Siddique, and approved by the cabinet, the Zongo For Peace And Development Conference themed “Developing our Zongo Communities through Tolerance and Peace” aims to engender and foster peace and unity among residents of Zongo communities.

It is also meant to change the long wrong impression and negative stereotypes that, Zongo communities are violent.

The Zongo For Peace And Development Conference 2019 is scheduled to come off Tuesday, 8 January 2018 at the Georgia Hotel Kumasi.

The President of the Republic, His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, will open the first phase of the conference.

The second phase will see various speakers, who are either scholars of tradition and religion, or respected members of Zongo communities speak on the conference theme.

Participants at the conference will also be given opportunity to contribute in an Open Forum.
