The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC) has observed with concern, the reaction of various stakeholders, especially the media in the wake of the release of SHS placements as part of the roll out of the double track system.
GNECC wishes to submit that, “the design and consultative stages of the double track policy is over. All stakeholders with divergent opinions on the policy, including GNECC, need to get on board and support government at this critical roll out stage,” The coalition said in statement copied to Public Agenda.
Signed by its Chairman, Mr Bright Appiah, the statement pointed out that the success or failure of the policy does not only depend on government and civil society. Parents, the media and every relevant stakeholder have a role to play in ensuring its success because it affects our children.

In particular, the statement indicated that “stakeholders, especially the media houses should encourage and assist parents and students by directing them to the various regional help desks set up by the Ghana Education Service to resolve any emerging issue related to the placement process.
It added,“Any media discourse aimed at finding fault or apportioning blame should be discouraged. Let us support the Ghana Education Service to implement the policy of the Government of Ghana. e. GNECC will undertake a review at the end of the first semester. We wish the Ghana Education Service a successful double track SHS policy implementation.”
