About 200 Ghanaians and some expatriates, young and old, joined the staff of the nation’s best selling sports newspaper Graphic Sports and its mother organisation, Graphic Communications Groups Limited, for the third Graphic Sports Health Walk last Saturday morning to promote fitness and healthy lifestyle through regular walking and exercises.

The four-kilometre exercise started at the Ayi Mensah Police Station and ended at the Peduase Lodge JHS park (behind the Peduase Presidential Lodge) for an hour of exciting aerobics in a fun-filled atmosphere.

Led by certified fitness instructor and Ghana’s Fitness Ambassador, Beatrice Afful (known in fitness circles as Bea the Bully), the participants were taken through intensive cardiac exercises, as well as muscle-strengthening activities.

The 52-year-old renowned instructor will be in charge of the monthly Graphic Sports Health Walk organised to promote a healthy lifestyle through regular walking and exercising.

She will also provide weekly tips on fitness and nutrition to be published in the print edition of the Graphic Sports every Monday and in the paper’s website [www.graphic.com.gh/graphicsports] and other online platforms.

Later, Dr. Naa Asheley Dordor of the Nova Wellness Centre, a corporate partner of the event, took the participants through different aspects of spinal care, including adopting the appropriate sitting and sleeping posture to prevent injuries.

She advised that it was important that they underwent an examination of their spines by a specialist at least once every year in order to prevent conditions that injured the backbone.

“Many of us have never seen what the spine looks like.

You have no clue because maybe you haven’t been sick for anybody to tell you to do any x-ray, unfortunately, before you realise you have a problem with your spine, it may be too late and that is why we are here to strongly recommend that everybody should at least once in a year have a spinal evaluation,” said Dr Dordor, a chiropractor.

The acting Editor of Graphic Sports, Mr Maurice Quansah, indicated that the next health walk would come off on Saturday, March 16, 2019 and encouraged the participants to bring along their friends and relations — young and even the aged — to participate in the monthly routine to encourage the adoption of a healthy lifestyle in the country.

He encouraged Ghanaians to read the print edition of the paper on Mondays, as well at its digital content on the website,www.graphic.gh/graphicsports for health and wellness tips from experts, including Dr Dordor.
