The Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwesi Amoako Atta has given thumps up to General Construction and Development Limited for its diligence in the execution of road projects in the country.
In particular, the Minister commended the Company for the topnotch execution of the Osiem to Begoro road in the Eastern Region, while urging other contractors to emulate the good example of General Construction and Development Limited.
The Minister gave the compliment during a three-day working visit to the Eastern Region last week to monitor the progress of some road contracts in the region.
Mr Amoako Atta also used the occasion to caution other contractors working on roads within the country to stick to their project timelines as he would not hesitate to terminate any contract which will be unduly delayed.
He said, “I know the
contractual relationship between a contractor and the employer, which is the
government. And of course, as long as the employer is doing his or her part the
contractor must also do his part, but if for no just cause a contractor unduly
delays any project, as I travel with my technical people around the country,
any such projects will immediately be terminated, and I want to repeat it
because I have the moral courage and authority to terminate any contract
anywhere in the country no matter who the contractor is, his size or capacity”
“I will terminate your contract because the people of this country cannot wait,
the government cannot wait because we are in a hurry, anybody or contractor who
comes for a project and does not perform you are gone,” he added.
This is the second time in a spate of two months when top government officials have extoled General Construction and Development limited for its good works.
Recently, Mr Stephen Kwame Quaye, District Chief Executive of Awutu Senya District praised the Company for the pace at which it is executing the 15- kilometers road that connects Adeiso, the capital of Upper West Akim District in the Eastern Region to Bawjiase in the Awutu Senya District in the Central Region.
Mr Quaye expressed delight about the intensity at which General Construction and Development Ltd is implementing the project, noting that per what he had observed so far, the project would be excellently executed and would be completed within schedule in order to bring respite to the people.
He added, “I am very happy with the way the contractor is working; I like the whirlwind speed at which they are working and the Assembly has been giving the contractor all the necessary support that he needs.
“We will continue to give them the support they need till the project is completed.” Mr Aquaye assured.
