The Director of Research at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), Dr John Kwakye, has told the Finance Minister Dr Mohammed Amin Adam to pay attention to Ghana’s mineral wealth which he says is worth trillions of dollars.

Dr Kwakye said that the mineral resources are being plundered by foreign companies with the assistance of Ghanaian officials.

His comments come after the newly appointed Finance Minister said he would work closely with revenue generation agencies for enhanced revenue mobilsation.

“Revenue collection will be pursued aggressively. So you are going to see me moving around the revenue centres, the ports, the airport, and the market areas to encourage the staff of GRA to collect more revenue but also to institute a friendly approach to collecting revenue,” Dr. Amin Adam said after his appointment to replace Ken Ofori-Atta on February 14.

Commenting on this on his Xplatform, Dr Kwakye said “Mr. Minister, please pay equal attention to our mineral wealth that is worth trillions of dollars but is being plundered by foreign companies with the assistance of Ghanaian officials.”
