Mama Kwakyewaa Inter School Quiz Competition set for March 10

The Nana SKB Foundation in collaboration with the Nyantakyi family who are natives of Asokore are scheduled to organize an inter school quiz competition among the Junior High Schools in Asokore Traditional Area in the Sekyere East District of  the Ashanti Region on March 10, 2019.

The Nyantakyi Family had devoted its resources for the educational development of Asokore Traditional area and had thus instituted a Trust known as Kwakyewaa Trust Scheme to award scholarship to brilliant but needy students’ especially female students offering science, technology, engineering and mathematics programmes at the tertiary level of education.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Nana SKB Foundation, Mr Gyimah Minkah Andrews explained to Public Agenda that the quiz competition is one of the educational collaboration between the Nyantakyi family and the Nana SKB Foundation and supported by the Ghana Education Service.

According to him, the initiative is geared towards improving the standard of education and opening a bright educational future for the youth of Asokore Traditional Area and to create an avenue for the exposure of Kwakyewaa Trust Scheme.

Among the schools to participate in the competition are; Asokore Methodist JHS, Nasir JHS, Akokoaso

JHS, Bomso JHS, Attakrom JHS, Asokore R /C JHS, Asantewaa JHS, Ahensan JHS, Awherewa JHS, Okaikrom JHS, Asokore Trinity JHS, Asokore SDA JHS, Senchi JHS, Apemso JHS.

The rest are Oguaa JHS, T. I. Ahmadiyya JHS, Naama JHS, Brofoyeduru JHS, Nimako Mem. JHS, Odurokrom JHS and Asukorkor JHS.

Mr Andrews indicated that the schools would be grouped into four zones for the zonal competition on 22nd February, 2019 of which winners from each zone would meet on March 10, 2019 for the grand finale.

He said the Sekyere East District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service has lent its support for the programme.  Dignitaries expected to be present at the programme .include Nana Susubribi Krobea Asante [Dr. SKB Asante] who is the patron of Nana SKB Foundation and Omanhene of Asokore Traditional Area, members of the Asokore Traditional Council, local council of churches, Department of Social Welfare, Women and Children sub- committee of the Sekyere East District Assembly and the Ghana Police Service.T

the Ghana Police Service is expected to give a talk on ‘The Role Of Parents In Child Protection And Improving the Performance of the Pupils in the Basic Education Certificate Examination.”

The Nana SKB Foundation is a non-governmental Organization which focuses on education and child protectionIn December 2018, the Foundation in collaboration with the John A. Kufour Foundation donated about 6000 customized exercise books, Pens, Chalks and other educational materials to some selected schools in the Asokore Traditional Area in the Ashanti Region.

 

The move, according to the Foundations was part of its educational programmes that aimed to assist pupils in the rural areas to have access to quality education regardless of the status of their parents, increase the enrolment of Junior High Schools (JHS) pupil in all the villages within the Asokore area and also to attract school dropout back to the mainstream.
