Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has officially submitted her response to the petitions seeking her removal from office, complying with the deadline set by President John Dramani Mahama.

According to reliable sources, the Chief Justice delivered her written reply to both the President and the Council of State ahead of the April 7, 2025 deadline.

This follows a 10-day window granted by the President for her to respond after the petitions were formally lodged.

With her response now submitted, the Council of State is expected to begin its review to determine whether there are sufficient grounds to initiate further proceedings.

As of now, the specific details of the allegations made against the Chief Justice—as well as the contents of her response—remain undisclosed.

The development marks a significant step in the unfolding process, with attention now turning to the Council of State’s next move in what could become a landmark constitutional matter.
